Clear expands WiMAX to Atlanta
A little more than a month after Clear's mobile WiMAX service 
became available in Atlanta, the company has officially "launched" the 4G service and is marketing it to consumers. The company is offering mobile Internet plans starting at $40 per month, or consumers can buy a day pass for $10 per day.
The Clear service in Atlanta uses Motorola WiMAX equipment and customers can get the service if they purchase either a Motorola USB modem or residential modem. The USB modem is selling for $59.99 or can be leased for just $4.99 per month. The residential modem is available for $79.99 or can be leased for $4.99 per month.
Other options available to Clear subscribers include the Clear Spot--a WiFi device that can connect to Clear's mobile WiMAX network--and numerous embedded WiMAX laptops.
Clear's WiMAX service has only been available in Portland, Ore., since the beginning of January, but other rollouts are planned for Las Vegas, Chicago and Dallas later this year. Mobile WiMAX service that was running under the Sprint Xohm brand in Baltimore will also be merged under the Clear brand at a later date.

I experienced low signal and NO signal at my home in Sandy Springs. Definitely ask for the complimentary signal validation before signing up as attempting to cancel was a significant hassle.

I love my Clear service - With a USB "dongle" I am getting up to 10 MB/s downloads and 700 KB/s up loads - Great coverage as I drive to different locations in Atlanta - I'm a believer -

I ordered mine with the guys at wimaxatlanta.net. I rec'd it the next day and now my daughter wants one for her family. The speeds are better at home than Charter and ATT.

I just signed up yesterday, and am getting 2-3 bars at the bottom floor of an apartment building located at the bottom of a hill and surrounded by trees. I'd definitely encourage people to take advantage of the signal checking, but I'm happy right now.
Also, look for a local rep, be it a store or an individual, as the online signup simply uses a blanket map to check your signal. You really need an in-home check to be sure.

Clear is really a great service. I cannot emphasize enough how important the in home test is. Some independent salespeople will do this. Curtis Aron is one (678-938-0637). Good customer service.

I am a CLEAR user and I couldn't be happier with the service. I recommend finding a retailer that will send a representative to your home to do a free signal quality test prior to making your purchase. That way, you can see how the unit works at your location before you go through the trouble of signing up then having to cancel. Also check in with a rep periodically because the tower system is still being built up in the Metro Atlanta. A part of town that has a poor signal can literally do a 180 in the next week and have great service due to the placement of a new tower. Try www.clear4u.net These guys are an authorized dealer of CLEAR and will make sure that the service works properly before you buy it.
