Clearwire quietly offers WiMAX in Atlanta

Tools

Clearwire's coverage maps on its website indicates that mobile WiMAX service is now available to most of the Atlanta metro area. Clearwire is not actively marketing the service, but WiMAX.com indicates the offering is part of Clearwire's "operational readiness activities" that are part of the network testing process. The coverage maps indicate that most of the metro Atlanta area has been covered.

Clear's WiMAX service has only been available in Portland, Ore., since the beginning of January, but other rollouts are planned for Las Vegas, Chicago and Dallas later this year. Mobile WiMAX service that was running under the Sprint Xohm brand in Baltimore will also be merged under the Clear brand at a later date.

It won't be quiet for long.... WiMax works very well here in Atlanta! I'm posting this from my Clear-enabled laptop in mid-town Atlanta. Great performance! (~7MBps down, ~500k up).
They did launch this quietly, I wonder what market is next. Check out www.surfclearwire.com to activate - they gave me a free $50 VISA gift card for activating.
I can't wait for Wimax to come to my area - NY'S Hudson Valley!!!I'm waiting for this. For real!!!.

FOLK'S is definately gettin excited!!!
It's quite because it SUCKS! Swiss cheeze velveta network, tinker-toy technology, from a cracker jack company = "Quite Launch" William is an clown "excited!!!" IDIOTS!!!
good to see more cities coming on..but unless its got the Sprint 4G stamp...its just not the true "wimax" experience. Download speed isnt everything...with 500kbps upload speed..you only getting half the wimax experience. Sprint 4G (Xohm/clear) in baltimore is seeing real world 1-2mbps up.
They may have short commings, BUT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN YOU GOTTA LOVE SPRINT!!
