Comcast testing WiFi in commuter rail stations

Tools

Comcast confirmed it is in the midst of a technical trial in approximately 100 commuter rail stations in New Jersey to provide free wireless access to the operator's cable modem customers. Comcast customers can access WiFi using laptops and other WiFi-enabled devices by choosing the Comcast WiFi option and logging in using the same user names and passwords they use for their cable modems in the home.

Comcast admitted it took a page from Cablevision, which is spending more than $300 million to roll out WiFi in New York and Long Island during the next two years. Cablevision is looking for ways to compete with Verizon for control of one of the largest markets in the U.S. Comcast said the trial is strictly a technical trial and are separate from its involvement in WiMAX with Clearwire. The MSO wants to see if WiFi will serve as an effective value-add for its existing customers.

Looks like commuters will have a choice of free Wi-Fi in Elizabeth NJ. The City of Elizabeth has been providing a free Wi-Fi service for two years now and the average usage has tripled since the intro of the I-phone. I am confident that Comcast customers will appreciate the service and urge Comcast to stay the course... it takes time for users to incorporate "off-site" usage into their routines. Man, what a dumb company. They limit users, like me, to 250GB downloads per month, but then give the remaining bandwidth to customers that don't pay. I spend 45 bucks a month so they can give the rest away. I think we really need to get a new board for this company because obviously then don't have a clue what is really happening or how to run an ISP.
Are you and idiot? No one need 250gigs of download . Possible if the computer industry shifts to cloud computing. Here in canada we pay 50 dollars for 120 gigs for only a 8 meg service lol. You sir are just greaty and should stop downloading porn ;).
