Europe looks to 800 MHz to carry mobile broadband market

Tools

Europe's Council of Ministers declared that all European Union countries must make the 800 MHz band available for wireless broadband services by Jan. 1, 2013. The move is part of the "Radio Spectrum Policy Program" that is designed to stimulate growth in the mobile broadband market by using the spectrum freed up from the transition from analog to digital TV. In addition, the program calls for at least 1200 MHz of spectrum to be allocated to mobile data traffic after 2013 but before 2015. Article
