Germany planning 4G spectrum auction

Tools

German telecoms regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) plans to auction a whopping 340 megahertz of spectrum that can be used for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) 4G technology. The regulator plans to auction spectrum in the 1.8 GHz, 2 GHz, and 2.6 GHz bands along with 72 megahertz in the so-called digital dividend spectrum--the 790 to 862 MHz frequency band, which is similar to the 700 MHz spectrum auctioned in the U.S. in 2008. The date of the auction has not yet been set. Article
