Huawei building rural WiMAX network in Canada

A Canadian consortium of ISPs called Manitoba NetSet plans to build a WiMAX network throughout the sparsely populated Manitoba province using Huawei as their vendor. The network will be built in phases with the first phase calling for coverage of 5,000 households. The network, which will be built using the 3.5 GHz band, will span the southern portion of Manitoba, reaching from the Saskachewan border to the west, the Ontario border to the east, the U.S. border to the south as as far north as The Pas.
