Motorola wants to rely on Qualcomm less for chips

Motorola isn't viewing Qualcomm has a long-term WCDMA chip supplier, Motorola executives said during the company's analyst meeting in New York last week. Rather, Texas Instruments and Freescale are being viewed as Motorola's primary partners in the long run, which signals a shift in strategy for the handset vendor. A Motorola spokeswoman told RCR News the vendor will continue to use Qualcomm's chips strategically in next-generation devices.
