President-elect Barack Obama is expected to nominate his campaign technology adviser Julius Genachowski as chairman of the FCC, according to the Wall Street Journal. A former Harvard Law School classmate of Obama, Genachowski, 46, previously worked at the FCC during the Clinton administration and more recently co-founded a venture capital firm called LaunchBox Digital. After leaving the FCC, Genachowski worked for IAC/Interactive in various positions, including general counsel and head of business development.

Genachowski helped draft Obama's technology plan, which detailed his support for Internet openness and more diverse media ownership rules.
