Rumor: T-Mobile wants Canadian 3G network

A CIBC internal note indicates T-Mobile is interested in establishing a 3G network in Canada. The note says that T-Mobile doesn't want to purchase an existing network, but would rather set up a new network of its own. One obstacle is that Canadian Telecommunications regulations highly favor Canadian ownership of telecom companies.

In November, Industry Minister Jim Prentice announced that 40 percent of wireless spectrum set to be auctioned off will be reserved for new entrants.
