SPOTLIGHT: A mesh network that truly bridges the digital divide

Now this is really an example of WiFi bridging the digital divide. Portland, OR-based Netequality, a non-profit organization that offers free Internet access to low-income communities, has developed a simpler version of a mesh router from vendor Meraki that can be plugged into an outlet. The product uses Meraki's Mini PCB but is optimized for really easy installation within communities or apartment buildings. It works like this: One DSL connection is plugged into the Meraki router and then one wall plug unit is needed for every four homes.
