AT&T sets out to 'set the record straight' over Verizon's ad claims

Tools

The AT&T and Verizon Wireless saga continues over Verizon Wireless' aggressive ads touting its 3G coverage over AT&T's. The ads show a side-by-side map that shows Verizon Wireless' 3G coverage as significantly better than AT&T's, and AT&T has filed suit over them claiming they are misleading regarding AT&T's coverage in general.

Now AT&T has issued a letter to its customers so it can "set the record straight" on Verizon's ad campaign. In the letter, AT&T notes that its 3G coverage covers 75 percent of the U.S. population, and that 96 percent is covered by its EDGE data network.

"As the U.S. market leader in wireless data service, we typically don't respond to competitors' advertising. However, some recent ads from Verizon are so blatantly false and misleading, that we want to set the record straight about AT&T's wireless data coverage," AT&T said.

Whatever may be the claims of AT&T about its Edge and its data capabilities, it has poor cell coverage even for plain voice calls!!! It even refuses to provide Femtocell (what it calls Microcell) for those customers that don't have coverage. Its representatives claim that they don't promise coverage even in major cities such as San Diego. Early termination fees apply even if AT&T does not have coverage where you live. So much for their service (or non-service).
though AT&T may not claim to have coverage in SD, my 3GS works Great nearly everywhere i go in SD. i own a buisiness and reside in SD county, i travel from east county to all pointd on SD's coastline. my experience is great. keep on wasting your R & D $$$ on the new phone of the week Verizon. your technology will always be a step( or many) behind. IPHONE RULES!!!!
