Ubiquisys, Intrinsyc develop femtocell interface for Android

Tools

3G femtocell maker Ubiquisys has teamed up with software developer Intrinsyc to develop a handset interface for Google's Android platform that changes as a user changes location. The interface, called UX-Zone, uses femtocell presence triggers from the Ubiquisys FemtoApps initiative and flips over to the Android desktop when the device moves between the wireless network to the femtocell.

Going forward, the femto-centric home screen could display new icons for high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming, social networking and home network integration. Ubiquisys added that the UX-Zone application could be adopted by enterprises or businesses to offer a customized home screen on Android devices when on campus or within certain buildings.
