Verizon taps Spirent for LTE device certification

Tools

Verizon Wireless announced it first testing solutions vendor Spirent Communications. The vendor will handle the initial certification of 4G devices.

Verizon hasn't named any device vendors yet but is set to move on the testing and approving front with its platform in place. Spirent already has a relationship with Verizon for CDMA and 3G testing equipment. Verizon plans to announce more test vendors, which is expected to assist developers in certifying their devices.

The agreement includes Spirent's hardware, test and system simulators and software. Device developers will need Spirent's equipment if they want to issue their hardware to Verizon's certification program.
